We believe in the verbal plenary inspiration of the Bible, complete in the sixty-six canonical books of the Old and New Testaments. The Bible is God’s written revelation to man. Every word in the scriptures is breathed out by God (2 Timothy 3:16). The human authors were supernaturally influenced or borne along by the Holy Spirit so that their writings were completely whole and inerrant (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:19-21; 1 Corinthians 2:7, 14; Deuteronomy 4:2;). Therefore, the Word of God is absolutely trustworthy and authoritative in every area of life. The Bible reflects the character of God in that it is called righteous (Psalm 119:7, 62, 75, 106, 123, 138, 144, 160, 164, 172), trustworthy (Psalm 119:41-42), true (Psalm 119:43, 142, 151, 160), faithful (Psalm 119:89), unchangeable (Psalm 119:89), eternal (Psalm 119:90, 152), light (Psalm 119:105), and pure (Psalm 119:140). The scriptures are sufficient to thoroughly furnish or equip a man to live out the will of God (2 Timothy 3:16-17). The Bible is the sole authority for faith and practice (Matthew 7:24-27; John 16:12-13; John 17:17; Romans 10:17; 2 Timothy 3:15; Hebrews 4:12; 1 Peter 1:3)
